The pistils and stamens of the lilies in a bouquet of flowers on my window seat keep calling to me for some reason. On one of the lilies, the petals curled back away from them and they were exposed and seemed to be emerging and calling attention to themselves. It was dark outside so the window made a perfect background to showcase them. Instead of cropping severely, I used a vignette to emphasize their emergence and de-emphasize the petals. I do seem to prefer black backgrounds to white. They offer more drama.
