2013—Day 96—Bokeh Drums

Joy & Madness played at Famous Mo’s tonight and they were indeed joyful and yes, a bit mad, but delightful and we had a full house. I took only a few shots tonight because I was busy but before things got busy and as the band was setting up for tonight’s performance, I was drawn to the lighting and colors of this drum kit. And of course the bokeh makes it a winner!

Day 96-11

2013—Day 95—Mo’s Famous Cobb

Food photography is difficult, even with a food stylist helping. This afternoon, Lisa, Famous Mo’s kitchen manager and our chef, acted as my food stylist after she made me a Mo’s Famous Cobb salad for lunch. When she served the salad, I realized it was a beautiful thing and worthy of a photograph. I have taken very few photos of the food served at Famous Mo’s yet because I have been so busy with other aspects of the business that I am neglecting my primary task, that of Famous Mo’s house photographer. So, with Lisa’s help, lots of readjustments to the food on the plate, and with terrible lighting, I rushed through the several shots I took because I didn’t want customers to come in while we were manhandling the salad on my plate. They might have found it unappetizing. This was the best shot of the several I took and while I am not completely happy with it, I loved the salad and ate every morsel on the plate.

Day 95-25-2

2013—Day 94—And Suddenly There Are Roses

I’ve been leaving and returning home before and after dark for the past couple of weeks so I hadn’t noticed that all my roses have budded, despite my complete and utter neglect of them. The sun was still bright when I got home about 6 tonight and I was finally able to enjoy their early spring beauty. This is a closeup of Rio Samba, complete with rain drops from the storms earlier to day. It is one of my two Ron Smith memorial roses, this one given to me by my stepdaughter Rebecca. It was a rose Ron always wanted me to plant because it was so vibrant and always an early bloomer.

Day 94-22

2013—Day 91—But Will They Stop?

Famous Mo’s opened at 6:30AM today. We had a small sprinkling of customers throughout the morning, mostly neighbors who have been waiting for us to open to have another morning coffee option. At noon, Jesse took a break from some seemingly endless construction chores and tried out the sign shaker position in an attempt to lure in a few lunch time customers. Although the red car continued on by, another stopped in for a look-see and that made him smile.
